BIO OF NICOLE PEREZ
Thanks for stopping by! I’m Nicole Perez, a midwest female voiceover artist. As you may be able to tell, I’ve got big Chicago pride. I am a fan of our art, I root for every team, and I’m not afraid of carbs. Cold pizza for breakfast anyone?
I currently reside on the North Side of Chicago with my husband Kyle and our children Rose and Henry. I absolutely LOVE what I do! My work spans from local and national TV and radio commercials to eLearning modules and from medical narrations to audiobook characters. I’ve been working with a broad range of clients for over a decade. I record in my WhisperRoom on a Neumann TLM 102 mic with Source-Connect so whether you’re local or on the other side of the globe, we can collaborate in real-time! With ten years of experience as a professional educator and several years performing comedy theater (I’m a fan of the gritty store-front theaters), my “bright” voice naturally engages listeners and learners. Let’s do this!
In 2012, I was the spotlight winner for That’s Voiceover!™ in Chicago, where I won a promo voiceover job with NBC Chicago, and won my sweet beloved Neumann TLM 102 microphone, on which I have since recorded local, regional, and national voiceovers for commercial ads, countless e-Learning modules, PSAs, nationwide phone menu systems, and more. Whether it’s the warm earthy crunchiness of a radio spot for Nature’s Valley™ Peanut Butter Bar, the smooth and reassuring feel for a heart medication’s Important Safety Information video, or the vicious and wild vampire beast in a GraphicAudio® novel, I like to think my versatility lets me narrate with authority and wisdom, sing a jingle in character, cackle or cry on cue, or playfully improvise an organic story.
Behind the mic, I embrace my training and experience in acting and comedy by finding the story, the humor within it, the contrasts, the patterns, and knowing the respective genre’s audience. I trained and performed in comedy at The Second City, Acting Studio Chicago, The Vagabond School of Arts, The Comedy Clubhouse, among others. My love for story is my driving force in improv. I’m a proud founding member of Las Tinas Improv, a Chicago improv troupe who performs fully improvised telenovelas. Las Tinas performed at the 2019 Chicago Women’s Funny Festival, The Miami Fuacata Improv Festival, The Laugh Factory, was featured on WGN, Telemundo, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-times, Time-Out Chicago, and were finalists for the Chicago Reader’s “Best of Chicago 2019” Improv troupe.
Proudly, I’m also a self-professed Linguaphile and Grammar Enthusiast. I earned my Master of Education in Instructional Leadership at the University of Illinois at Chicago, am a proud lifetime member of the International English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta, and was the winner of Mr. G’s 3rd Grade Class “Best Handwriting” in 1995.
